What's the real difference between the two paths?
The monitoring features are identical on both paths. The difference: owner/business plans include free equipment with a 36-month agreement and require credit approval. Renter/flexible plans are month-to-month with no credit check, but equipment is purchased separately.
I'm a homeowner — do I have to take the 36-month plan?
No. Homeowners can choose either path. If you’d prefer month-to-month flexibility and don’t mind purchasing equipment upfront, the flexible path works perfectly for you too.
What credit score is needed for the owner plan?
We run a standard credit check. Most customers with fair to good credit qualify. Call us, and we’ll walk you through it— quick, no-obligation, and we’ll tell you upfront if you qualify.
What free equipment do I actually get?
Depends on your plan: Smart Security = free keypad. Smart Automation = free keypad + smart door lock. Smart Video = free keypad + video doorbell. Smart Video Plus = all three. All owned by you from day one.
Can renters switch to the owner plan later?
Yes. The owner plan requires you to be the homeowner, so once you buy, you qualify — and it’s a common move for our customers. Your equipment comes with you to the new house, we re-install it there, and you can switch to a 36-month agreement to lock in your rate. Just call us when you close and we’ll set it up.
Can I use existing equipment on the flexible plan?
In many cases yes if it’s Alarm.com compatible we can often activate it under our monitoring without replacing anything. We’ll assess it during your free consultation at no charge.
What happens if I cancel the 36-month plan early?
Early termination fees may apply. We’re completely upfront about this before you sign — no fine print surprises. Call us and we’ll walk through every term so you know exactly what you’re agreeing to.
Is activation really free on both paths?
Yes — $0 activation fee on every professionally monitored plan, both paths. Self-monitoring plans have a one-time $25 activation fee
