Why Indianapolis Homeowners Switch
These are the most common reasons Indianapolis homeowners call us to switch. If any of these sound like your situation, we can help.
💸
"My rate keeps going up"
Vivint, ADT, and other nationals regularly increase rates after year one. Your “locked in” rate wasn’t as locked in as they implied. ProTECHt locks your rate for your full term, guaranteed in writing.
📞
"I can never reach anyone"
National companies route every call through a 1-800 center. Nobody knows your system, your history, or your name. When you call ProTECHt, you talk to the same local team that installed your system.
📜
"I'm stuck in a long contract"
Vivint runs 42–60 month contracts. ADT runs 36. Many homeowners discover they’re locked in long after they’ve stopped being happy with the service. We’ll review your contract and tell you exactly where you stand.
🔧
"The equipment is outdated"
Older ADT and Brinks panels don’t have smart home features, app control, or Alarm.com integration. You’re paying monitoring fees for 2010-era technology while your neighbor has a fully connected smart home.
🏠
"I just bought a home with an old system"
Many homes come with an existing alarm system that’s unmonitored, outdated, or tied to a company the previous owner used. We can assess it, take it over, or upgrade it – whichever makes the most financial sense.
📱
"I want smart home features"
Older systems can’t control locks, thermostats, cameras, or lights from an app. Upgrading to Alarm.com adds all of that — often without replacing your existing door and window sensors.

Staying With Your Current Provider
National companies advertise low monthly rates but hide the real cost in equipment leases, activation fees, and rate increases. Here’s what 3 years actually looks like.

When you add equipment lease fees, activation fees, and rate increases — most national providers cost $500–$2,000 more over 3 years than ProTECHt on an apples-to-apples comparison. We’ll show you the math on your specific situation.
Compatible Systems
From Most Providers
In many cases we keep your existing sensors and keypads, upgrade the panel to an IQ Panel 5, and switch your monitoring to Brinks Home — saving you on equipment costs.
ADT
Vivint
Vivint equipment is proprietary — panel upgrade typically required, but sensors may be reused.
DSC Systems
Fully compatible — we can keep your existing sensors and equipment.
2GIG Systems
Hard Wire Systems
If the sensors already work, we can test them and take over.

The Takeover Process
Than You Think.
Most homeowners assume switching alarm companies is complicated. It’s not — especially with ProTECHt. We handle the entire technical side and most installs are done in under 2 hours.
The only thing you need to handle is cancelling your existing monitoring contract when you’re ready. We’ll tell you exactly how to do it and what to say.
⚠️ Still under contract?
We’ll review your existing agreement and tell you exactly where you stand, your earliest cancellation date, any fees, and whether switching now makes financial sense. We’ll never push you to switch before it’s right for you.

Common Questions
Can you take over my system without replacing everything?
In many cases yes — especially if your sensors are hardwired or compatible wireless ones. We assess everything for free and tell you exactly what can be kept. Vivint and ADT are proprietary and usually need a new panel and sensors, but some of the older systems will allow us to re-use your sensors.
What if I'm still under contract?
We’ll review your contract and tell you your exact cancellation date and any fees. If you’re within a few months of the end, it often makes sense to wait. If you have longer remaining, we’ll calculate whether switching now makes financial sense after factoring in the early termination fee vs what you’d save.
I just bought a house with an existing system. Can you monitor it?
Absolutely — this is one of the most common calls we get. We’ll assess the system and either take it over with Brinks Home monitoring or upgrade the panel. Most existing systems can be brought under Alarm.com monitoring at a fraction of what nationals would charge.
Will my rates go up after I switch?
No. Your rate is locked in writing for your full term — no year-two increases, no surprise adjustments. That’s the difference between a local owner-operated company and a national provider that builds rate hikes into the business model.
How do I cancel my current monitoring contract?
Most companies require 30 days written notice sent by certified mail. We’ll walk you through exactly what to send, when to send it, and what to say. We’ve helped dozens of Indianapolis homeowners make this transition — it’s simpler than you think.
Free — No Obligation
Take over your existing system with a local Indianapolis team. No 1-800 numbers. Real people who know your name.
